Why Participate in an #AppFest: Words from Developers
Posted Thursday, 15 November 2012 by Nick Hodge
The first Australian #AppFest was held at TechEd 2012 on the Gold Coast. It was a 24 coding marathon. Months later, what are the feelings of the people who attended?
Simon Lamb says:
Appfest was hands down the best 24 hours I had in 2012 (If you don’t count the birth of my second daughter) It reminded me of all of the reasons I love programming and I recommend it to anyone as the most accelerated way to get a handle on app development for the Windows Store.
In a followup tweet, Simon says:
#AppFest was 216% more fun than Dynamics AX Academy
Bryden Oliver says:
AppFest was a great way to get skills in new areas really fast. Forcing yourself to try and produce something quickly means you have to find out lots of cool stuff. Having a bunch of people who are also learning the same stuff makes it easier and the collaboration helps everyone pick stuff up.
Kym Phillpotts says:
Appfest at TechEd was the best fun I’ve had coding for years. The atmosphere was electric, lots of great people with a passion for development keen to help each other out and challenge the idea of what can be built in 24 hours. It’s not just a competition for nerds either, it’s a real fun social event. A great way to kick-start developing an app for Windows 8 and the Windows Store. You might just be surprised what you can achieve in 24 hours.

#AppFest ROCKS!!!!! Experience the lots in 24 hours, what more can you ask. Access to experts in person on-demand, learn from wide range of other developers both in opinions and experiences. Let’s have another one next year!
